CanPacific Potash Inc. (CanPacific Potash) is moving forward with the development of a test cavern in order to trial potash mining efficiencies for the proposed Project Albany.
The test facility will have a footprint of approximately 150 m x 150 m and include two production wells, a groundwater well, a deep disposal well, above ground pipelines, brine and water tanks, a salt bin, pumps, a transformer, and modular trailers. No brine or potash will be stored in ponds on the surface. No potash will be made as a saleable product. The pilot project will be decommissioned upon completion and the area rehabilitated to its original agricultural use.

Project Update - Project Albany Receives Environmental Impact Assessment Approval
Pursuant to Section 15(1)(a) of The Environmental Assessment Act (the Act), Ministerial Approval was given (August 27, 2019) to CanPacific Potash to proceed with Project Albany, a solution potash mine located in CanPacific Potash’s KL 262 potash lease, subject to terms and conditions imposed in the Ministerial Approval, including the condition that the development be designed, implemented, operated and maintained in accordance with all specifications, mitigation measures and environmental protection procedures described in CanPacific Potash’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
